The Hasty Heart

Take a handful of wounded Allied soldiers, put them in a hospital ward in Burma during World War II, add one beautiful  nurse, mix in a hot-headed Scotsman, sprinkle in a little romance and a lot of fun, and you’ll come up with the charming comedy-drama, “The Hasty Heart”.

West Jordan Theater Arts will open “The Hasty Heart” at the Sugar Factory Playhouse on March 13, and the show will run Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays through March 24.

This delightful script was written by John Patrick, who also wrote “The Curious Savage” and “The Teahouse of the August Moon”.  The show gained popularity when it was made into a 1948 film with Ronald Reagan.  The Sugar Factory Playhouse cast features AJ Longhurst as the spiteful Lachlen and Stacy Schultz as the ward nurse, Margaret.  Other soldiers in the ward are Kiwi (Mike Dodge), Yank (Allan Groves), Digger (Scott Thompson), Tommy (Shelby Maughan) and Blossom (Simeon Lawrence).

Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for seniors, children and students and are available at Macey’s Food Store at 7800 South 3200 West in West Jordan or at the door.

The Sugar Factory Playhouse is located at 8201 South 2200 West in West Jordan.  All shows begin at 7:30 pm with a 2:00 pm matinee on Saturday, March 22.  Doors open 30 minutes before curtain.

In cooperation with “Thank A Soldier”, a donation booth will be in the theater, and all donations will go to benefit an area wounded soldier and his or her family.
